چکیده

The practical application of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), for predicting the flow pattern around Multipurpose Amphibious Vehicle (MAV) hull has made much progress over the last decade. Today, several of the CFD tools play an important role in the land and water going vehicle hull form design. CFD has been used for analysis of MAV hull resistance, seakeeping, maneuvering and investigating its variation when changing the hull form due to varying its parameters, which represents a very important task in the principal and final design stages. Resistance analysis based on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation has become a decisive factor in the development of new, economically efficient and environmentally friendly hull forms. Three-dimensional finite volume method (FVM) based on Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS) has been used to simulate incompressible flow around three types of MAV hull bow models in steady-state condition. Finally, the flow structure and streamlines, friction and pressure resistance and velocity contours of each type of hull bow will be compared and discussed. Keywords—RANS Simulation, Multipurpose Amphibious Vehicle, Viscous Flow Structure.

Performance of SST k-ω Turbulence Model for Computation of Viscous Drag of Axisymmetric Underwater Bodies

This paper presents 2-D finite volume method for computation of viscous drag based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. Computations are performed on bare submarine hull DREA and six axisymmetric bodies of revolution with a number of length-diameter (L/D) ratios ranging from 4 to 10. Both structured and unstructured grids are used to discretize the domain around the bodies. Diff...

Computation of Turbulent Viscous Flow around Submarine Hull Using Unstructured Grid

This paper presents finite volume method based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations for computation of 2D axisymmetric flow around bare submarine hull using unstructured grid. The body used for this purpose is a standard DREA (Defence Research Establishment Atlantic) bare submarine hull. Shear Stress Transport (SST) k-ω model has been used to simulate turbulent flow past the hull...

Numerical simulation of flow hydrodynamic around dolphin body in viscous fluid

The biomimetic and hydrodynamic study of aquatic animals is one of the most challenging computational fluid dynamics topics in recent studies due to the complexity of body geometry and the type of flow field. The movement of the aquatic body, and particularly the tail section and the corresponding movement of fluid around the body, causes an unsteady flow and requires a comprehensive study of t...

3D Numerical Simulation of the Separated Turbulent Shallow Flow around a Single Side Obstacle

In this paper, the performance of Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) simulations was evaluated to predict the flow structure developed by the presence of a sidewall obstruction in a uniform open-channel shallow flow. The study of these flow structures is important because they present in several real world configurations, such as groynes in rivers, where the erosion processes, mass transpor...
